The concept of equity is increasingly acquiring new significance. Today, equity is not conceivable, especially cultural equity, because it has become so dissociated from history and culture. To promote discussion and disseminate experiences that demonstrate the relationship between history, memory and heritage, this group has developed several research projects (individual and collective). The Research Group on History, Memory and Heritage is led by professorCarmem Gessilda Burgert Schiavon. Its objective is to preserve and systematize information about the cultural and environmental heritage of the city of Rio Grande and the surrounding region. It also promotes the inclusion and implementation of practical equity education in the Grandina River public school through local history and memory.

The group is involved is several activities, including an inventory of the cultural heritage of the island of sailors; mapping the cultural heritage of the spa casino; and the realization of practical equity education.
