This group is led by professor Humberto Calloni and aims to achieve a thorough understanding of the concept of complexity, notably from the philosophical contributions of Edgar Morin. The group is organized to read, analyze and reflect on the complexity paradigmas it is presented the works of Morin and to create an open dialogue with other authors. The group was formed to answer the call for a critical reconsideration of the paradigms’ unilateral perception of reality and determine the actions, values and social motivations that offer cultural, pedagogical and spiritual resistance to a world that is demanding newbut unrealized perceptions of complex interdependencies that propose, in their turn, new perspectives about human nature and life in all its manifestations. Rather than excludingwhat no longer supports the ideal of a new social, cultural and planetary historical moment, these things should be included to revive the notion of biocentrism, in which science, education, art, ethics and aesthetics create a new human sensitized to peace and to the full development of its inherent qualities of creation, invention and good ethics in accordance with the nature from which it emanates. The GEC seeks to collaborate in the construction of new knowledge through the paradigm of complexity. For example, the necessity of the development of science and technology to the contemporary world, especially when such development affects the formation of human personality in all its dimensions, leads to the reconceptualization of education and teacher training in accordance with what Morin calls "thought reform".

Currently, the GEC has nine members. The studies planned for the current school year rely on readings and discussions on themes from "The Method" by Edgar Morin. These in-depth studies of Morinian epistemology reflect on the notion of the subject, the life of subject and the core of the subject. These readings provide a foundation for expanding the researchers’ understanding of the epistemic subject and its contribution to the research performed for master's and doctoral degrees. In the next six months, the group plans to make new interventions in the broad spectrum of conceptual complexity by reflecting on and researching complex approaches to the educational focus and institutional transformations emerging from information technology and didactic models, highlighting the notion of the self-organization of vital processes and social organizations.
